Sedgehammer Plus

Sedgehammer Plus comes in convenient packs to mix with water and spray troublesome sedges. Sedgehammer Plus is a post-emergent, selective herbicide to control sedges such as yellow and purple sedges, Kyllinga species and some broadleaf weeds. Sedgehammer Plus also contains a dry, non-ionic surfactant to increase efficiency for the best results.

Sedgehammer Plus may be used in both cool season and warm season turf grasses such as Bluegrass, St. Augustine, Fescue (find and tall), Bermudagrass, Centipede, Perennial Ryegrass and more. Sedgehammer has proven to be a safe herbicide to use on the most common grasses in the United States and is considered a gentle to turf herbicide. Make sure the turf is well established with a good root system before application.

Apply Sedghammer Plus to existing and young growing nutsedge plants (plants that have emerged in the last six weeks).

How Sedgehammer Plus Works

Sedgehammer Plus kills both the foliage and the sedges’ underground tubers. If however, if some sedges survive longer than six weeks, they can produce new growth. It may require repeat applications to get complete eradication of the sedges. Read the label for specific directions regarding a maximum number of applications and rates. It is rainfast within 4 hours.

For two day before or after application, do not mow the turf for best results. The leaves of the sedges and weeds will start to yellow and become brown within two weeks. This process may be delayed if the nutsedge is stressed or not growing.

Application

Mix one 13.5 gram (0.5 oz) pack in one gallon of water. This mixture treats about 1,000 square feet. Spray the sedges and targeted weeds enough to wet the entire surface. When spraying nutsedge, it is best to spray between the 3-8 leaf stage of growth. Nutsedge may require a second treatment at 6-10 weeks after initial treatment.

Control of more than just yellow and purple nutsedge including weeds such as Cocklebur, Corn spurry, Rice flatsedge, Philadelphia fleabane, Galinsoga, Annual kyllinga, Ladysthumb, Wild mustard, Smooth pigweed and more.
